I don’t live in Stockholm but the majority of my family do so learning of the terrorist attack today was nothing short of horrifying. Luckily, my dad quickly responded that he/they were safe and sound and that he was nowhere near the attack site. This was as a huge relief. My dad is in the service sector and based in Stockholm, he travels the whole region so this means he can be anywhere in the given area (he relocates several times a day) so I was especially worried about him.
I’ve been following the feed of the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter and the live feed on Reddit and it feels.. surreal. I’ve followed the other terrorist attacks across Europe in similar ways and even if it break my heart, I’m not the least surprised that we got attacked. It’s something that at least I have been expecting even though I hoped I would be proved wrong.
It’s still too early to say who’s to blame but I’ll take my guess as how the political climate will change after this. I know how it’s going to sound amongst some very specific groups, but I have faith in most of them to look at this and realize not everyone from any given group are ever to carry the whole blame for something like this.
Stay safe out there friends.
